Tributes flow for radio host Richard Marsland
FRIENDS and colleagues last night paid tribute to radio host and comedy writer Richard Marsland, co-host on Triple M's Pete and Myf breakfast show, who was found dead yesterday morning.
The 32-year-old was discovered in his car close to Ship Rock Falls, near Hoddles Creek. Police said the death was not suspicious.
Comedian Peter Helliar described Marsland's death as heartbreaking.
"Richard was a great writer, a great performer and a great friend. It is heartbreaking to think we won't see him again
and we can only begin to imagine how
hard this must be for his family," Helliar said.
Marsland started his radio career in Adelaide on SAFM, and went on to work for Fox FM, Triple J and Triple M. He also had several television credits to his name and was a regular writer for Rove Live as well as Shaun Micallef's SBS show Newstopia.
Ben Amarfio, the general manager for Austereo, the company which owns Triple M, praised Marsland's professionalism.
"Richard was an incredibly talented and popular member of the Triple M team.
"Everyone he worked with was impressed with his professionalism and dedication and he had an extremely bright future ahead of him. We thought so highly of Richard that we were expanding his role in the show next year.
"Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time."
